Research interests
Modeling reliability and safety of complex technical
systems related to their variable in time operation conditions. As
wide as possible approach to this problem by proposing exact and
based on the asymptotic approach approximate models evaluating
reliability of large systems operating in variable conditions
entailing the variability of these systems reliability structures
and the variability of reliability characteristics of their
components. Moreover, pointing out practical applications of the
achieved theoretical results.
Doctor Joanna
Soszyńska-Budny received her MSc degree in Physics and Mathematics in
1999 at University of Gdansk. Since 2000 she has been working at
Department of Mathematics of Gdynia Maritime University. Her scientific
interests and activities have been concerned with the modeling
reliability and safety of complex technical systems related to their
variable in time operation conditions. In this field she prepared her
PhD dissertation entitled “Reliability Analysis of Systems in Variable
Operation Conditions”. In 2007, after a successful defense of that
thesis, she received her PhD degree from the System Research Institute
of Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw.
Dr Joanna Soszyńska’s
PhD thesis was concerned with the reliability analysis of complex
systems related to variable in time their operation conditions. Its main
subject was as wide as possible approach to this problem by proposing
exact and based on the asymptotic approach approximate models evaluating
reliability of large systems operating in variable conditions entailing
the variability of these systems reliability structures and the
variability of reliability characteristics of their components.
Moreover, pointing out practical applications of the achieved
theoretical results was an essential her thesis aim as well.
Dr Joanna
Soszyńska-Budny is either an author or co-author of 150 scientific works
published in scientific journals and conference proceedings. She also is
the co-author of two books on reliability of complex systems and the
co-editor of one conference proceedings.
She has presented her
research results at many international conferences on reliability and
safety.
She participated in the
research project granted by Polish Committee for Science entitled
“Asymptotic Approach to Reliability Analysis and Optimization of Complex
Transportation Systems”, 2003-2004, and in the research project granted
by the European Union entitled „Safety and Reliability of Industrial
Products, Systems and Structures”- SAFERELNET, 2002-2005. Recently Mrs.
Joanna Soszyńska-Budny has been involved in the Poland-Singapore Joint
Project „Safety and Reliability of Complex Industrial Systems and
Processes”, 2007–2010.
