He is a Member of US
National Academy of Engineering.
Prior to assuming
the Presidency at City University of Hong Kong, Professor Kuo has
served as University Distinguished Professor and Dean of Engineering
at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and Head of Industrial
Engineering at Texas A&M University, USA.
Professor Kuo is
renowned for his work in systems reliability as a pioneer in design
and model for reliability of electronics and energy systems. His
books in reliability optimization are regarded as classics. He was
the first foreign expert invited to visit the Fukushima nuclear
power plant immediately after the March 2011 earthquakes.
He received the B.S.
in Nuclear Engineering from National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan
in 1972, and the Ph.D. in Engineering from Kansas State University
in 1980.
He is a recipient of
the IEEE Reliability Lifetime Achievement Award and a Life Fellow of
IEEE, Fellow of ASA and INFORMS.
