1961: Graduated from High School #14, Kiev, Ukraine (former USSR).

1966: National Taras Shevchenko State University, Department of Physics, Master Degree - Physics (Diploma with Honor), Kiev (Ukraine – former SU). Thesis: “EPR of gamma-irradiated amino-acids and proteins”, advisor: Prof. D.M. Grodzinsky.

1971: Ph.D. (Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences – Chemical Physics), Institute of Chemical Physics, USSR Academy of Sciences, Moscow. Thesis: "Studies of the electron-transport biological membranes by the molecular probes", advisor: Prof. L.A. Blumenfeld.

1988: Sc.D. (Doctor of Biological Sciences – Biological Physics), Highest Attestation Committee, Moscow. Thesis: "Reliability of electron-transport membranes and the role of oxygen anion-radicals in aging".
