Lidia Z. Filus
received her M.S (1971) and Ph.D. (1979) in Mathematics from the
University of Warsaw, Poland. She was awarded a research fellowship from
the Center for Operations Research and Econometrics at the University of
Louvain in Belgium, and then from the University of Twente in the
Netherlands. During her professional career she has worked at the Warsaw
School of Economics, the Polish Academy of Sciences, the University of
Kansas, and Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago. In addition she
has been a participant in the International Semester of Mathematical
Methods in Economics sponsored by UNESCO, a visiting scholar at the
Mathematics Research Center, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a
visiting professor at Fern University in Hagen, Germany.
Her research interests have been
in several areas of operations research, in particular fixed points
algorithms and their applications, most recently in stochastic models in
operations research, in particular in modeling multi-component system
reliability.
